Many of those who visit 1art.com and who purchased my first video workshop have been asking me how my work on the video workshop on the portrait was going on. Much time has passed and some of you may have gotten tired of waiting. But promises must be kept, and today, I am happy to inform you that my new painting techniques video workshop, Portrait of Anna, has been released.

The workshop explains and demonstrates the Flemish technique in the process of painting a portrait of a beautiful young woman. I believe that the quality of the color layer and the likeness to the model in this portrait are exceptional (working in front of the camera, perhaps, makes one concentrate better).

The video workshop runs one hour, sixty minutes less than the previous workshop, but the amount and the quality of the text equals those of the previous workshop, thanks to my friend Vladimir Pavlov who translated the text from Russian and narrated it in English as brilliantly as he did in the first video.

Here are some screen shots of the Anna portrait video.

Second classical oil painting technique video workshop, Portrait of Anna, by Alexei Antonov featuring the following stages:

White priming with subsequent ink drawing;
Imprimatura, the selection of the medium tonality of the lightest spot in the painting;
Umbra Underlayer whose main function is to prevent the tonality fading in time;
Dead Underlayer required for the final completion of tonality and preparation of the surface for color layers;
Color layers. The skillful combination of the dead underlayer and the color layers can help you achieve the miraculous effect of the Old Masters;
Finishing layers whose goal is to complete the texture characteristics of the painting.
Running Time: 60 Minutes
Produced by Alexei Antonov
Translation and narration by Vladimir Pavlov

So much for art. How about the artist?

I was born in Russia in 1957, and I've been trying both hands (I'm ambidextrous) at art ever since. I can remember my self from the age of two, and when I was three, I was the terror of my mother's make-up kit, as I loved to draw murals on the wallpaper with her lipstick. All through my childhood I continued drawing, (more...)
