Your right about the expression. I noticed it earlier so I'm glad you mentioned it and confirmed my suspicion. I'm not fretting over it just yet. I want to get the major shading in place so I can see the whole face. Then just a few tweaks of some shadows should do the trick. I hope.

I'm sure it will! It's nice to be able to follow this along as a WIP.

Michelle - Thanks for peeking in!

Must be done by Saturday. I'm feeling good about getting it done.

Still needs a lot of tweaking around the eyes and nose. Need to fill in the texture on the blanket. I think I'm closer on the shape of the mouth.

You definitely got the mouth right for Happy Baby Squeal. A sweet, delightful portrait.

Looking good Bob... enjoying your process! Will be following along also with interest. How many of us struggle with the washed out photos?

    Thanks toadflax.

Joseph - Bad photos are the bane of our craft, no? But on this one I've realized I can use it to my advantage. In the end, the portrait is much better than the photo. I'll remember that next time someone asks "did you just copy a photo?".

Great job. The baby's expression is very well done.

Michelle, Steve, Roo - Thanks for the kind words.

Well I guess it's done. The client is happy. But I would have liked to tape it to the wall for a week so I can find all the little things that I don't like. That's part of the problem with doing a commission. Part of me wants to spend a zillion hours. But working for less than minimum wage has its downside. So I have to be satisfied I suppose with what I can do in a reasonable amount of time.
